Cottenham firm lands major green contract with London council
Cottenham insulation firm Kershaw Contracting Services has been chosen by Southwark Council to undertake the authority’s latest ‘eco project’.
The scheme offers residents in the London borough the chance to improve the energy efficiency of their homes using government funds to subsidise the work.
Kershaw Contracting Services, which is based in Cottenham, will be taking care of the supply and installation of insulation and radiator reflectors.
Ian Macklin is the managing director of Kershaw Contracting Services said: “We’re delighted to be involved in this project.
“We hope that, as well as helping the residents of Southwark with the cost of re-insulating their homes, it will make more people realise the benefits of having insulation fitted.
“Good levels of insulation reduces your energy bills and carbon footprint. That’s good for your wallet and the planet.”
Southwark Council will be offering free energy usage assessments, draft proofing, loft insulation, radiators and cavity wall insulation
The council is also making electricity monitors available for home owners to borrow.
Kershaw Contracting Services is now looking to set up similar schemes with other councils across the UK.
The company has years of experience in insulation and new boiler installations for homeowners and new home developers.
As well as central heating systems and fitting cavity wall insulation and loft insulation, the company specialises in the safe removal of asbestos.
The company is a division of the Cambridge-based Kershaw Group.
Parts of the Kershaw Group have a history stretching back 120 years. It employs around 200 people and is well known for its involvement in the community.
