Pressroom :: TIME RUNNING OUT FOR BOILER SCHEME

Cambridge people warned time is running out on new boiler scheme
Cambridge people are being warned that time is running out to take advantage of the government’s Boiler Scrappage Scheme.
Cottenham boiler replacement firm Kershaw Contracting Services says the programme is designed to encourage homeowners to replace their old, inefficient boilers with an up-to-date, energy saving item.
You can get £400 towards the cost of the new one. Those who qualify include homeowners, tenants in privately-owned houses and people who have a G-rated boiler – the lowest efficiency level.
But the number of people who can be helped is restricted.
Just 125,000 ‘vouchers’ for the £400 rebate were issued when the scheme began at the beginning of 2010.
And in the two months since then, nearly 56,000 have been allocated to successful applicants to the scheme.
Ian Macklin is the managing director of Kershaw Contracting Services. He said, “You need to act quickly if you want to take advantage of this great scheme.
“We’ve been inundated with requests for new boilers since January and the scheme has been consistently gathering momentum since the launch.
“We’re expecting the final two thirds of the vouchers to be snapped up pretty quickly”.
Homeowners who want to enquire about the scheme should call Kershaw Contracting Services on 01954 250155, or visit www.kershawcontracting.co.uk.
Kershaw Contracting Services has years of experience in boiler installations for homeowners and new home developers.
As well as central heating systems, the company specialises in the safe removal of asbestos, fitting cavity wall insulation and loft insulation.
The company is a division of the Cambridge-based Kershaw Group.
Parts of the Kershaw Group have a history stretching back 120 years. It employs 183 people and is well known for its involvement in the community.
