Retrofit Insulation Services

Retrofit Insulation Services

At Kershaw Contracting Services, we are experts at assessing the insulation requirements of existing buildings and determining the optimum solution according to a property's age, type and degree of access. As approved installers for a wide variety of insulation products, we will identify the most cost effective options in line with your budget.

Insulating your existing building can help to reduce heat loss, prevent condensation, seal against draughts, stabilise walls, strengthen the roof against weather impact, and help solve problems like wall tie and mortar joint failure. You will also benefit from a reduction in energy bills, an upgraded, more efficient building with lower carbon emissions and a warmer, dryer environment for its occupants.

Our refurbishment clients include London Boroughs, housing associations and Local Authorities.

Cavity Wall Insulation

We use a variety of blown cavity wall insulation product, which are water repellent and vapour permeable allowing the construction to breathe. They reduce the risk of condensation, are non-combustible and there is no wastage.

Polyurethane Insulation

Sprayed and injected polyurethane foam systems provide very high insulation standards, sealing gaps and moulding to any contours. They can also provide significant structural strength and create their own vapour control layer. Applications include:

  • The underside of aluminium, tiled, slate, steel and asbestos roofs as an alternative to re-roofing
  • Loft spaces to prevent condensation, create warmth, and reduce the risk of pipes and tanks freezing
  • Into wall cavities for stabilisation and restoration of structural integrity

Polyurethane insulation is ideally suited to industrial and commercial buildings such as factories, offices, farm stores and warehouses as it contributes to reducing fuel costs and improves the working environment.

Insulation Extraction Remedial Works

If you have property that is showing signs of damp, mould and condensation, this usually means there is a problem with the cavity wall insulation as a result of poor or inappropriate installation. Unfortunately, the only reliable solution is to remove the faulty insulation and start again. We use the Stewart Energy XtractaVac Mk2 cavity wall insulation removal system to extract insulation installed by third parties which has subsequently failed. A preliminary survey is carried out to clarify the cause of the issue and therefore determine the scope of the extraction.

Fire Barriers

Kershaw Insulation is approved by Rockwool Limited to supply and install Rockwool FirePro fire barrier systems. These create compartments that retard the spread of fire and smoke within the roof and ceiling voids for anything from 30 minutes to two hours.
