Man fined £44,000 for unlicensed asbestos removal
The director of two asbestos removal companies who took on unlicensed asbestos removal work has been fined £44,000.
Robert McCart, of Sussex Asbestos Solutions (South East) Ltd and Sussex Asbestos Solutions Ltd, was also disqualified from being a director for four years by Eastbourne Magistrates’ Court.
He pleaded guilty to breaching seven asbestos regulations following work carried out to a shop in the town last year.
Asbestos insulation board was removed without the required licence and without HSE being notified.
Appropriate precautions were not carried out. At one point a white sack containing broken pieces of asbestos insulation board were left outside the shop, putting the public at risk.
