22,000 schools could have asbestos problem
A newspaper investigation has found that 22,000 schools could have asbestos in their buildings... and 18 teachers a year are dying from asbestos-related cancers.
The Mirror has been running a campaign called Asbestos Timebomb, in which it is calling for a register of buildings that contain the deadly substance.
Its research has suggested that 22,000 of the estimated 31,000 schools and colleges in the UK are affected.
Meantime figures have shown that the number of teachers dying of the asbestos-related cancer mesothelioma rose from 11 a year in 1991 to 1995, to 18 a year in 2001 to 2005.
Kershaw Contracting Services can undertake asbestos removal and disposal in sensitive buildings where other facilities must remain operational.
