HSE’s asbestos warning to contractors
The Health & Safety Executive has reminded the building trade that it carries the responsibility to survey for asbestos in properties being refurbished.
The warning comes after the HSE successfully prosecuted a building surveyor in Birmingham for exposing people to asbestos during demolition work.
The law demands that persons should take reasonable steps to find asbestos materials and make a written record, which should be kept up to date.
Kershaw Contracting Services will perform type 1, 2 & 3 surveys on any building within the UK. All surveys are provided with registers, photographs and plans to accurately identify the location and nature of asbestos items found.
