180 contracts awarded for social housing refits
More than 180 contracts have been awarded to housing associations, construction companies and local councils to draw up low-carbon refit plans for social housing.
In all, the contracts are worth £3.5m and have been awarded by the UK Government-backed Technology Strategy Board.
These feasibility studies are the first phase of the board’s £16 million Retrofit for the Future competition.
It aims to reduce energy use and greenhouse gas emissions from the UK’s social housing.
The retrofit programme will see the development of plans for refitting homes with energy efficient and low carbon technologies.
