First zero carbon homes go on sale
The UK’s first homes that are “zero carbon” have gone on sale in Basingstoke.
Each of the five new homes being built by Miller Homes will comply with the government's Code for Sustainable Homes.
They will do this by using a number of different technologies to improve energy efficiency, reduce water consumption and cut carbon emissions.
By 2016, the government wants all new home builds to be carbon neutral.
Domestic properties are currently responsible for about 27 per cent of the UK’s total carbon emissions.
Kershaw Contracting Services provides cavity wall and loft insulation to home owners, builders and contractors.
