New government’s subsidies for green home improvement
The new coalition government has announced its plans for environmentally friendly policies, including provisions for government-funded subsidies on green home improvement.
Many of the previous government’s policies will be brought forward into this parliament, including the pay as you save scheme which allows people to pay back loans for green improvements as they save on their bills.
The continuation of the scheme ensures that the latest specifications of insulating materials will continue to be available to anyone who wants them.
The government has also agreed to look into plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 40 per cent by 2020, some of which will be achieved through ensuring new houses are fitted with the very best insulation.
