10,000 homes to benefit from £9.5m insulation cash

Mayor of London Boris Johnson has announced plans for a whole home “carbon makeover” for residents in nine boroughs of London.

The London Development Agency will subsidise the installation of loft and cavity wall insulation for those who can pay.

For those on benefits they will get it for free.

10,000 domestic properties could benefit from the £9.5m cash injection from the mayor and the LDA.

The plan is for a number of London agencies to have reached all areas of London by 2012.

By then 200,000 homes will be benefiting from reduced energy usage.

There’s a goal of 1.2 million homes having undergone retrofitting by 2015.
