Older homes don’t get energy efficiency grants
The Energy Saving Trust claims that millions of people living in older homes are unable to take advantage of grants helping them improve their home's energy efficiency.
It has worked out that people with properties with big projects – such as solid wall insulation – are failing to get help.
The government's Carbon Emissions Reduction Target (CERT) makes it relatively cheap and easy for homes to get help with cavity wall and loft insulation.
Solid wall insulation – typically needed on homes more than 80 years old – can cost up to £10,000 and would fall outside this scheme.
