Through a competitive tender process Kershaw’s were awarded the contract to remove asbestos from the Indoor market situated in the main shopping area of Luton town.
The project included the removal of 4000m2 of Asbestos Insulating Board with Limpet Spray (Blue Asbestos) coated over the steel structure of the building for fire protection.
The works were undertaken in 800m2 phases to ensure the market remained live at all times.
Prior to works commencing a meeting was held with the Health and Safety Executive to approve the Removal and design method.
During the removal process air monitoring was undertaken continuously to ensure the safety of the general public.
On completion of each phase a Certificate of Re-occupation was issued by the independent Analyst, ready for the construction team to refurbish the market area.
