Kershaw’s were awarded the contract to remove the limpet spray coating (Blue Asbestos) to the car park situated under the Authorities Housing Office building, Glenthorne Road.
The works were awarded on a competitive tender basis to remove 750m2 of the highly dangerous asbestos product.
Prior to removal the area had to be segregated into 3 phases to allow the car park to remain operational at all times.
The ceiling coating was injected with a fibre suppressant using a Safestrip needle injection system to ensure the product was completely saturated prior to removal.
The removal presented an unknown challenge as the product had been applied to clay pots and fixed with bitumen.
On completion of the asbestos removal the ceiling was re-insulated by Kershaw Contracting Services.
